Registration FAQ

Do I need a partner to sign up for classes?

Unless stated otherwise in the class description, you do not need a parter.  We rotate frequently in class so everyone gets to dance and practice.

What class should I take if I have had some experience with swing before, but have never taken Lindy Hop classes?

Lindy Hop basics and concepts are different than other swing styles, therefore, we are sure that you will be challenged even if you have some experience in other styles.

Also, if we have not seen you dance then it is difficult for us to give solid advice on your level. We have no problem transferring dancers into a higher level class if they are indeed ready for it and feel that a class is too slow or easy.

I have taken one of your classes but I am not sure that I am ready for the next level. What should I do?

We highly recommend taking a certain level of class over again if you are not comfortable and in good control of the material. So for example, if you are struggling with your 6-count, you will definitely struggle with 8-count and we don't recommend that you move to the next level.

Repeating a beginner level class can never HURT your dancing, instead it usually helps it. Sometimes you hear things the second time around that you did not hear the first time.

Be honest with yourself and if you are not sure just ask the instructors for advice.

What is your Drop-In Policy?

We do allow drop-in students provided that the class is not full. Registered students will receive priority and class ratio (lead vs. Follow) will be taken into account.

Except for special permission from the instructors, drop-ins after the first week of a series will not be allowed because the classes are progressive.

We will try to accommodate everyone, but we want to foster the best learning environment as possible. Drop-in students assume the risk of not getting in when coming to class.

What is your waiting list policy?

We allow an uneven ratio of leads vs follows (follows vs. leads) of 3. Once an imbalance in the ratio of 4 or more occurs, we will start a waiting list. If you want to guarantee your spot in a class, bring a partner because this will keep the ratio even.

What is your policy on make-up classes? If I miss a class can I come to another class to make up the missed material, etc?

At this time, we do not allow make-ups because this can really disrupt our ratio of leads and follows in the classes.

We will, however, refund you for the class that you have missed.
